HMO stands for House in Multiple Occupation. You may have heard of this on the news and press. What is it all about?
We have simplified the understanding for you and provided relevant links for the areas we cover for more in depth information for you.
A HMO under the Governments current reasoning is a property being let to a multiple number of families, where toilets, bathrooms and kitchens are shared between tenants, on a certain number of floors.
Our advise is, if you are unsure if your property is a HMO, call your local council and explain to them type of property you own, the number of floors it has and the number of tenants living there. They can quickly tell you if your property is a HMO under their rules.
